What is Hockey Day?
Skatelife Hockey Day is Skatelife’s premier fundraising event. It happens in 3 cities across Canada, helping Skatelife raise $100,000 annually through the generosity of individuals and businesses passionate about impacting the lives of hundreds of teens across Canada. Attracting over 300 participants between the 3 events, teams of individuals face off in an all day ball hockey tournament to battle not just for the Skatelife cup, but for fundraising prowess! Who is Skatelife?
Skatelife is a division of Young Life of Canada (est. 1954) and has been operating in Canada since 1992. Recognizing the uniqueness of skateboarding and the subculture that permeates it, Young Life reaches skaters on their turf – in their world through Skatelife. We enter the world of the skater, develop friendships and hang out on their turf in the hope of positively impacting the skaters we interact with each week. We interact with approximately 800 Canadian youth every week providing safe places to skateboard, mentorship and camp experiences.
